چکیده

The contribution of this paper is two-fold. First, we introduce a generalized principal component (GPC) beamforming technique for reduced rank processing that allows a trade-off between interference and noise reduction via the introduction of a control parameter, : Three variants of the GPC beamformer corresponding to 1⁄4 1 (called T1 beamformer), 1⁄4 0:5 (called T2 beamformer) and 1⁄4 0 (called T3 beamformer), which maximize the signal-tointerference ratio, the signal-to-interference plus noise ratio, and the signal-to-noise ratio at the array output respectively, are considered in detail. The second contribution of this paper is to compare the robustness between the reduced rank and full rank beamformers. We use analytical studies and computer simulations to show that the T2 and T3 beamformers are robust against calibration and/or pointing errors. r 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Analysis of Beamforming Methods for Speech Enhancement

Nowadays, hands-free technology has been rapidly increasing in communication systems. It allows a natural form of communication, as if the communication partner was right next to you, the major problem in these systems is the addition of background noise. In this paper implemented beamforming methods for noise reduction in hands-free communication. A beamformer is an array of microphones, which...

GENERALIZED PRINCIPAL IDEAL THEOREM FOR MODULES

The Generalized Principal Ideal Theorem is one of the cornerstones of dimension theory for Noetherian rings. For an R-module M, we identify certain submodules of M that play a role analogous to that of prime ideals in the ring R. Using this definition, we extend the Generalized Principal Ideal Theorem to modules.

A Robust Adaptive Beamformer with a Blocking Matrix Using Coefficient-Constrained Adaptive Filters

This paper proposes a new robust adaptive beamformer applicable to microphone arrays. The proposed beamformer is a generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC) with a variable blocking matrix using coefficient-constrained adaptive filters (CCAFs). The CCAFs, whose common input signal is the output of a fixed beamformer, minimize leakage of the target signal into the interference path of the GSC. Each c...

Joint noise reduction and acoustic echo cancellation using the transfer-function generalized sidelobe canceller

Man machine interaction requires an acoustic interface for providing full duplex hands-free communication. The transfer-function generalized sidelobe canceller (TF-GSC) is an adaptive beamformer suitable for enhancing a speech signal received by an array of microphones in a noisy and reverberant environment. When an echo signal is also present in the microphone output signals, cascade schemes o...

Enhance Low-frequency Suppress

Usually the generalized sidelobe canceller (GSC) beamformer requires additional highpass pre-filtering due to insufficient suppression of low frequency directional interference, and it deteriorates the bandwidth quality of speech enhancement, especially for small size microphone array. This paper proposes a new GSC beamformer with multiple frequency dependent norm-constrained adaptive filters (...
